Ok getting closer to setting up my 75g, after the new floor is installed I'm going to get the new stand and canopy built and start on the plumbing, it currently has two overflows, 1 in each corner with 1.5" bulkheads in them so this is what I've come up with so far, just worried about making the 2 overflows run into 1 piece of PVC and if it may cause flow issues, also have to figure out how to do the returns since it's not drilled for return pipes. Return pump is a mag 1200 already have it in the truck, couldnt pass up free and working :)
    any advice is appreciated

You shouldn't have any trouble running two drains into one. Both of my set ups have been like that...

The only change I would make would be to bring the overflow boxes toward the center a bit to maximize draw from all sides. Just a thought from a rookie. Hehehehe.

Also, the Y at the bottom needs to be an actual Y. A ninety degree turn to the right will not get an even split. You won't have maximum control. So turn that into a Y, level it off after a bit, put a 'governor' on it to control flow and you're in business.

I like this set up. I am about to redo the plumbing on my set up when I build my fuge. If you don't mind, I think I might adopt your idea.

I don't mind, and moving the overflows is out of the question unfortunately, if it were up to me I'd have done them in the same place but used a glassholes.com overflow kit, but I bought this tank with a stand (that I'm trashing) and a sump that is WAY to big for this setup (sump is 36"x18"x16") for $100 so was to good of a deal to pass up, holds water so I cant ask for much more than that, I do need to replace one of the bulkheads but that's not a huge deal, Going to build a new stand and a canopy for it, going with geisman t5 retro kit 6x54w most likely and have a mag12 so far for it.

Also an afterthought, are you talking about doing a Y on the return or the downflow

    Why not both?

The downflow, where it splits off to the fuge and the sump. That needs to be an actual "Y" (an upside down Y). The 90 degree split to the right needs to be changed to 45 degrees down, then level it off and 90 degrees down to the fuge. That will give even water flow from your tank to both ends of your fuge/sump. Then you can control the flow using a governor.

A "Y" on the return is OK, but it will ultimately reduce the flow rate out of the return by half. I would keep it as one return to keep good flow rate and if you want additional flow in the tank, add another powerhead that is independent.
