The drain pipe in the overflow is 1 1/2 inch but the bulkhead is only 1 inch which means the remaining plumbing from the drain bulkhead into the sump only needs to be 1 inch? I have already plumbed the rest out with 1 1/2 inch which is pointless because the flow is limited by the bulkhead, right?

Well you certainly COULD have run your plumbing at 1" - but having your drain plumbing oversized would not be a problem in this case. Your flow will be limited by the 1" orifice in the bulkhead - but the larger piping will ensure no backpressure or flow issues at the bulkhead interface. It will also take a lot longer to clog up and may end up being quieter (depending on your flow rate).

So no - I would say you have not created any headaches for yourself - overengineering this aspect of the plumbing is not an issue if the pipes fit IMO.

I wish I had used 1.25" or 1.5" pipe with my 1" bulkheads, just because of the potential for quieter flow and smoother flow.
