plumbing for sump

need help for the sump plumbing for a 135 with 55 gallon sump, (oh need ideas on how to make the sump. also. i have an overflow, dont know the rate for it, will try to find out and tell you soon, and i have a rio 3100 as a return pump, tell me if that wont work please.

 

oh forgot to add for the sump, i want a 15 or 20 gallon refugium with a remote deep sand bed, then flow into a spot for live rock, and then for the skimmer, and then to baffles (i think thats what there called to trap the bubbles, and then for a spot for a return pump, any one have ideas of the demensions for the acrylic (SP?) or glass dividers? for each different one.

i just got done with a refuge project, but i messed it up.... first your overflow will drain as fast as your return pumps.... it would be easiest to have your fuge and sump all in one, what i would do is have it drain to a wet/dry... with that you would have water from overflow drain to your sump with egg grates glue different levels of shelving for media, then put up a wall to section off part of the sump, i would get a piece of acrylic, glue it to the top of your 55, and leave about an inch to two inches at the bottom of the tank.. then you can put live rock, and then put up another wall about half way up the tank so water overflows that wall, then you can have your sand bed and plants/algae... then put up another wall so water over flows it and you can have your skimmer and return pump


if you still want a sump and pump, have your refuge built where your overflow drains to the bottom of the tank (you would have to get both ends of the tank drilled, at the bottom) put your sand and media, then it would drain to your sump where you could put your skimmer and return pump... i just went through all this last week

 

i like the first idea, it sounds like it would be great and the wet dry part, will allow alot of oxygen into the tank which will be great, will all that be able to fit with a skimer liek the size of an asm g3 or like a euroreef???

 

it should, you said 55 right... thats a lot of room to work with, and if you get acrylic then you can put walls where you want them
