This is how I did mine, I put on the size reducer onto the pump.
Then put a threaded male connection into that which had the barbed fitting on the other side for the vinyl tubing.
On the tank I used a 90 degree PVC connection then another 90 degree and small piece of PVC pipe to go over the edge and the another 90 with a longer piece of pvc pipe that took me to the edge of the stand.
then I put an adapter onto it with the barbed fitting.
The vinyl hose from there to the pump.

So, if I'm seeing this right, the return line is not pointed down but out so the water flow back into the tank is horizontal not vertically down towards the bottom...correct? Can you put a SQUID (sp?) on that or does that interrupt the return flow too much and did you use a float valve in the refugium for the return pump.

Here is the way I set it up.
You can put a scwid onto most anything

The graphic is exactly what I was thinking it looked like.
I am going to have to pull out the old sliderule (yeah..right) and figure the back pressure created by the 90 degree elbows and include in the distance up and over from the fuge. To figure the pump size etc.

I started a thread on fuge accessories, as you suggested.

    Hey dx,
Here is how I plummed my galfriends 55 gal last weekend. The return pump in the sump is a Rio 17HF. I used 3/4" id tubing from the pump to the Scwd. Then 3/4" sced 40 from the scwd to the ends of the tank and then locline into the tank. I will try and upload a pic.

That is exactly what I was thinking about SZ. That's a nice looking overflow you have there. How did you do that?

    Nice!!!!

    Do you like the Scwd?

    Hey DX,
It's a Lifereef overflow. Seems to work just fine. The SCWD is working great also. Were using the sump returns to keep the top tank water mixing well and maxi-jets for the rest of the tank flow.
