Whenever a bulkhead is being described, it always refers to the inner sockets,

never the exterior part. The measurement refers to the inner diameter of the

plumbing that will fit inside of it. For example, a 1.5" bulkhead will accept a 1.75"

PVC part with an inner diameter of 1.5" internally (where the water flows).

    So whats my problem

Well i got a few dilemas; first i have a 1"1/2 wide coast to coast in my 100G and the i have two external overflow boxes on each side; the reason being, short verson, back problem all pipes run on side of stand for me to work on , easyer so 2 box needed for the whole system of tanks. But Should i change the with of my coast to coast to accomodate durso 1.5" drain pipes and such and eliminate the extra boxes and drilling. [IMG]

    Change it to this

    My Reef tanks are 72"L x 18"Wx19"H 100G

    My Biotope Tank is 72"L x 18"W x 16"H 80G

    Sump 48"x 18"x20"H 70G

Second dilema is that my biotopes are part of the filtration system, like the last time they will be full of sand mud, plants, macro-Algae and in one sea-horses and in the other part( they are separated by a baffle) an Anglers and a scorpio or leaf fish. Different shrimps and gasteropodes will also be in to complete the ecosystems, and suplement the main reef tank with extra little pods and mini-shrimps it will enjoy. It work great the last time on a much smaller scale. But now my dilema is size. So the dilema do i put overflows and how big my drain for this tank for the skimmer two levels down, i made one but not sure.

I can't provide much help either, but I want to stop in and tell you that your return setup and rock scape are incredible. Nice job!

yes, nice job and the description of what you want to do is intriguing. I wish I could help on the plumbing but I'm afraid I'm pretty dense about plumbing.....I'm not sure I'm accurately reading your work up correctly :)

Thanks i'm not sure i'm writing it correctly either i'm dislexic, so it take great efforts. A french dislexic in the bunch wow, lol, talk about a speach impediment, lol. ;D I used the terminology from a site devoted to aquarium plumbing and to one with aquarium plumbing parts which i'm about to order in the next month or so. So i must get this right before i tell them where i want the holes and how big. i have an idea but the calculation of the water displacement when the power is shut OFF is my big concern.

    A follow up question

In my plan i have a connection between my biotopes and my Reef tank( Green ). Most have a drain going from their Refugium to their sump after the skimmer to joing the return pump. So just the connection between my two tank should be enought then ....anybody on that one......
