29 Gallon Tank, 1 inch bulkhead on my overflow box. I want a return line coming in to both sides of my tank on back. Should I use 1/2 inch returns?

You will get more flow out of larger diameter plumbing on the return. Be aware that by splitting your return you are lowering the overall amount of flow you'll be getting out of your return pump. 3/4" plumbing is pretty standard on returns but a lot of people use 1" and just reduce it down to 3/4" or 1/2" at the last second before it hits the water.

Yeah.. like said above. Whatever is coming out of the pump use that and reduce it at the last possible spot.
