plumbing a return from the fuge to the main tank is a cool idea, Just make sure you drill an anti syphon so it doesn't drain the main tank back to the fuge with power loss. Also remember any critters you hope to get from the fuge to the main tank will get pretty beat from the pump.

Thanks Phil- I thought about the critters getting beat up also but it's pretty much my only option. Hopefully most of the critters make it. But you know what.....I haven't seen any critters as of yet in the main tank or sump?????

I have thousands and I only pump from the sump area.
Most are so small when pumped to the main tank that they can live.

Nautilus- I've heard many people talk about critters such as copepods and amphipods in their systems. My buddy Nugio says that he has "millions!" I have yet to see "one" in my tank! Am I missing something? Why don't I see them?

i have all my skimmers and pumps and heaters in my main tank. I have no room for a sump. I have a refuge but mines above my tank. I don't have a check valve for mine yet I can't fine one. IS there another way I can stop it overflowing. What did u use to plumb your refuge.

HL14 describe exact the way your fuge and tank is set up right now.
How the water drains to the tank etc...

Cowboy... sorry never saw this post. You should wait and watch or get some filter pad and make Nugio put it in his fuge for a week or so then transfer it to your tanks refugium and seed it.

I have a water pump in main to pump water to fuge then I have the fuge above my tank and a tube from my refuge to main that the water just drains into it.

    Hey Hottie,

What exactly do you mean by "mine is overflowing?" Is your refugium overflowing? My system is a little different than yours. My sump and refugium are under my tank. You can get a check valve at Home Depot or Lowes. The smallest they carry though is 1\2 inch.

drill a hole 1/8 inch under the water level so it breaks the siphon
