ok i was going to buy a 10 gallon tank, take out the bottom and replace it with thick glass and drill it.but i found some 12 inch plexiglass in my shed so i'm going to put that in the bottom and silicone it reelly thick.i could'nt find an overflow kit for a 10 gallon tank,so i guess i'll just peace one together.i have a 55 gallon reef ready tank,so i guess i'll just copy it as close as i can.i'll take photos and share in a cpl wks when i have the time to put it all together.

VERY thick acrylic MAY not bend... it's almost impossible to find acrylic that won't change shape somewhat

yes,i was planning on replacing the bottom of a standard 10 gallon tank with half inch plexiglass and drilling it so i can plum in a refugium.where has it been done?i'd love to see what all people have done.i have'nt seen much about it.i put it on this page cause it involves having a refugium.

ok i used half incg acrylic.the tanks bottom frame along with the glass broke while i was trying to remove it so i could'nt reuse the frame.i cut a quarter inch deep groove into the bottom peice to set the glass into and act as a frame and bottom peice at the same time.i tried to bend the acrylic and it took all my strength to bend it just enough to see it move at all,so it will be strong enough.i will have some photos as soon as i silicone the over flow sheild in place and drill the holes.

Instead of the bottom what you want to do is add it on to the outside rear or back of the tank Orbuild a fake/false rear wall inside the tank then hide the pump and filtration and little fuge in there not removing the bottom..
Water enters one end perk through to the outlet a Maxi 600 is what I used for all these I made..you can also drill the wall to fit a few other heads for circulation

thabks but i can't do it that way.the back glass is not replacable.i can't build a false back inside the tank either,i wish i could do it that way.the sump needs to be lighted for the chaetto i'm growing in it and i'd like to have it on a reverse lighting schedule to keep the tank more stable.it was also to icrease the tanks water volume without taking up more space in my daughters small room, the 2nd tank fits nicely below her display.its too late to change how i'm going to do it now,the bottom is already replaced.i'm now just waiting on the pump and new LED light before taking the rest of the pictures to show you all.
