is there any reason why I couldn't build a plywood refugium? Would it be cheaper/easier than acrylic? Not sure how the prices compare...It would be nice to custom fit into my stand.

Im not sure about cheaper or easier but in my opinion cheapest and easiest is to use an old tank and add acrylic dividers in it.

It defiantly would be easier to custom make you would need to get some of that sealant stuff and some silicone for the cracks.

I'm guessing cheaper but I don't know how much the sealant costs

i don't know all the steps to building one but i would assume you need to cover the wodd with something because plywood glue is posioness. just thought i would point that out

unfortunately i'm in an area that is about 2000km from a major city center, sooo shipping is rediculous. Not many used tanks around other than my 30 that is currently in use.
Plywood is everywhere and not that outragiously priced. Glass is what I think is th higher end of pricey with 4 baffles 12x10 and 2 - 3x3 of 1/4" costing $120...

You could do plywood if that is what is available. One benefit would be less light spill from your fuge.
