Plywood top of stand how thick should it be?

    For strength I like to see something across the back for rigidity (like you did on the side) but you don't really have that much weight and the frame is pretty well built. Luan is fine for the cross bracing of a bookshelf but for a tank support I'd like to see 1/4" ply. Marine ply is quality stuff but not really needed for this.

    Definitely seal the wood, the foam may help rot the wood.
