I'm scared of bio pellets! Some people sing praises & some curse the mentioning of them! I'm too new to SW to know which is best for my set up... I'm chicken! :worried2:
We've been VERY lucky so far! Don't want to throw off a good thing! lol

How do you go about rinsing frozen food? My guess would be to put the cubes in a small strainer & soak in RO ? What's your process?

Buy a GFO reactor and use 1/4 of the recommended amount to start and change every week to every two weeks. Slowly build up to using the full amount unless you are using BRS supplies then stop at 1/2 and start at 1/8.

We use RO. We were using stale tap but the algea was taking over the rock/foam wall. Started using RO & have it completely under control now & very clean/stable tank! No more worries with Ph either! No worries with ANYTHING in the FW since switching to RO.
Our PO4 is just too high in central FL I think. It made a HUGE difference for us.

I break off a chunk thaw it in a bowl of water and then strain it through a brine shrimp net.

Well - I think I will be starting a macro-nursery before getting into the BBs & GFO hobby.
    I like greenery anyways!
I'd rather try the al-natural approach first. :)
