When I first got my poccillopora the polyps came out within the hour of being placed in the tank. I have had it for about 2 weeks now and was doing great! Polyps fully out and fluffy! Yesterday about mid-day I noticed that the polyps all around the base were closed up, but didn't think anything of it really because it will on occassion close some polyps and then they will open back up later on. I figured a hermit walked around the base of it or something. Later that evening I noticed that the polyps all the way up to about 1/2" to the top were all closed... that's when some red flags went up and I quickly did a 10% water change and cleaned out the canister filter (which adds a gallon and a half to the tank- 10gal tank) All parameters were fine! Nitrates were BARELY at 2ppm. I let everything be over night and now ALL of the polyps are closed except a select few that are just peeking out a little. All other sps (3 birdsnests, monti digi and another pink poccillopora) are all perfectly fine! frogspawns, zoas, hammer etc etc are all perfectly fine! I'm not too worried as all other coral are acting normal. Should I just keep an eye on the poccillopora? My water is fine, so I don't understand what could be happening? You think the other poccillopora would be reacting to if there was indeed something wrong, am I correct? I moved him a little higher to the light which also put him in a little higher water flow. Anyone know any common problems that could cause this?

Your tank has a bunch of softies, I blame them.

I highly doubt they are the problem! If they were the other poccillopora would also be affected... plus I run fresh carbon to prevent any "chemical warfare" between the softies and any other corals. The only softie I have in there that would cause a problem would probably be the kenya tree, but I have had no problem with him. Both the poccilloporas are side by side... so if it was a softie issue the other poccillopora would be getting affected by the same thing.

Oh. I had just replaced the 10k bulb with a 12k bulb about 3 days ago.... Would that be a possible problem?
