I got my first sps coral a few days ago, its a green pocillopora damicornis, it was originally 40 bucks but i got it for 25 because there was something called a slime worm living in a hollowed out branch. you could see him sticking his head out and letting off a web of slime. I was told to just put some putty over the end of the branch to kill it. so I plugged the hole and everything seems to be fine but I was woundering if anyone has ever heard of that kinda worm before. it was pretty wide too maybe about 1/4 inch wide.
    Thanks, Tyler

heres a picture after i plugged it. Will the coral encrust over the putty plug or should i just cut the branch after a few days and the worm dies

    heheheh no problem!

If your LFS (I'm assuming bought from a store) didn't know what it was, maybe you should check here before you take their word for anything else! ;)

Ya the place i got it from is one of the more reputable places around me and i probably should have asked more about it but I just kinda shrugged it off since he said to just plug the hole and it will die. Should I cut the tube off after it dies or will the coral just encrust over the putty? Its already covering the lower half of the tube

I don't keep SPS corals, so can't really recommend what you should do. I've heard people say they clip them off of their rocks & stuff. Their recommendation was fine, but their ID not so much! :D
