Ok, I decided to just try it. I have a 2 and 1/2 gallon tank that used to house my son's 3 male guppies (guppy sausage fest). I upgraded my son to a 10G in case you're interested. To the 2 1/2 I've thrown some sand, live rock, chaeto and of course salt water into with a bottle of pods (Tigriopus Californicus) and some phytoplex.

Any other advice on this endeavor?

Decided to post pics of both tanks, well just because ;D

Similar to, but smaller, they are cultured locally at UC Davis. I'm going to introduce some of the larger pods into the tank after I see if these take off so I can have a mixed crop to keep a good colony in my tank.

Reason I ask, is because I bought these and loaded them into my Fuge. I never saw them again. I found out later that these type require colder water.

very good to know. I think those that I bought since they are found in California waters should be used to cooler water as well in the tank they are in now and since they range from Alaska to Baja they should be able to handle the warmer water of my main tank as well.

Funny you mention that though I had tigger pods in my main tank but never could get a good colony established so maybe I had the same issue just didn't know it.

Tigerpods eat phytoplankton. Unless you are dosing it they will starve to death. There are plenty of other "bugs" that will thrive in there.;)
