    Why arent the pods getting up into display do i have something arranged wrong?

    No it is usually very hard to see them in the DT as they are good at hiding and your fish will be eating them also.

    My mandarins stomach in plump but the back part of him is still skinny.

    Could the skimmer be sucking them up before they get to the return?

    Yep, I can sometimes see a few but they scurry really fast in the DT.

    It is possible if your return pump is in the skimmer section. You should run a 3 section baffled sump for your purposes. One for the refuge on one side, one for the skimmer on another side and your return section in the middle.
