    Can pods survive a cycle?

I realized i have a crap load of them.... and I am just getting my diatom blooms. my levels are all at 0 (amm,nitrite/ate). is this a good sign i am nearing the end?

Yes. I started my new tank with live rock from my old tank which had tons of pods in them. Infact you will see a big bloom in their population at first. They can survive extreme conditions, changing salinity, temeperature, pH etc.
