pods?

    what are coepods and ampipods ....how do i tell if i have any??? i know fish feed on em and i've got a 55gal with 50lbs lr and a great corraline grow...hoping to add some zoas or mushroom polyps today, but i wanted to know what inverts should be growing and how to spot em

    if you have them the best way to see them is after lights are out

    leave the lights of for an hour or 2 and then using a torch check the tank

    check around areas of the live rock amphipods are mini shrimps and can be seen scurrying over rock work - copepods - well mine tend to be easily spotted on the tank wall

    Unless you have a refugium, coepods probably will be short lived. More so if you have a mandarian or other fish that like to chomp on them. Ampipods are hithikers and will establish themselves in the main display.

    also copepods do nothing to harm your tank and only provide food for 6 line wrasse, mandarin etc..... if you plan to add one of these fish your lfs should have little bottles of them and you can add them to your refugium just put a macro algae in fuge so they can hide in it
