Poetry Nook

I thought I would start this "Poetry Nook". I will share poetry I have written and poems from a variety of different sources. I hope you enjoy.

Come into my favorite room, here there is no gloom
Peace and tranquility in abundance, acquired with no recompense
See the old rustic pattern of this nook, on the stand a trusted book
Low glow of a tiffany lamp to gently light, My head sometimes nods into the night
Roll top desk of fine grain wood, organize the clutter, I know I should
Fire crackling in this place, Warm and cozy is this space
The smell of cherry wood all around, A marked absence of almost any sound
Tick, tick, tick the small clock calls, Perfect solitude inside these walls
Rain striking gently on the window, the wind outside sways the willow
As night draws on and slumber sets, I know I will fall asleep, any bets?
Till I do I will ponder fond memories, far removed from life’s many calamities
The shadows from the fire seem to dance with glee, as if they are dancing just for me
And so I sit and rest and smell and think awhile, When I finally grasp it all.....I just smile
