Stop dosing and let it go down naturally. Do you know what your mag reading is?

if you want corals, I would add one at a time and see how each one does. First off, get your water in the right condition. Once your parameters are all straightened out, then you could add maybe some mushroom corals or zoanthids. If they do good, then you could probably add some LPS corals. I would not add another anemone until your tank is at least 6 months old and stable. yeah the tang is too big and by butterfly fish I'm guessing you mean copperband butterfly which is also a very hard fish to keep. get peppermint shrimp for aiptasia and then get rid of them when the aiptasia is gone (they CAN eat LPS corals, I've seen it!) good luck getting everything straightened out!

Reefburh, I added a very small amount of PH buffer a few weeks ago to increase my PH. I had never done this before or since, I added a tiny amount as per the instructions which sorted my PH out but I have not dosed since.

Lynnmw, I already have 4 toadstool mushies and some colony polyps which seem to be doing better now than ever. After jumping in far too fast I intend to SLOW things right down!! Just want to reduce the KH for now tho.

A way to lower it would be to do a larger then normal water change that should bring it down. Where your coral showing signs of bleaching why you happen to be dosing pH?

Leighton, My PH had dropped to 7.0, I don't know why and im not even sure when but the bottom line was the LFS tested my water (cause I didn't have any test equipment at the time) and they gave me a buffer to bring the PH back up. I only used a tiny bit! I have just done two water changes in the past 2 days both were in the region of 35%. I will do some tests after work tonight....See if anything has changed. Thanks

no problem, to raise your pH without adding more buffer you might try to point a powerhead the surface to release some more of the Co2 that is built up in the tank. This was recently suggested to me and it worked my pH is above 8.1 during the day and at 7.9 at night :)

If you have been doing large water changes and your kH is still high, something is not quite right. Are you using tap water or RODI? What kind of rock do you have, natural or man made? What brand of salt do you use?

I have done 2 water changes but not checked my parameters yet. I will do that tonight / tomorrow morning and report back. I use RO which is freshly made up by my local LFS who at the moment I really do rate.! I haven't needed to increase my salt content yet but will do in the near future I would think so any advise would be great!

I have just bought a new 900l/h circulation pump which I could direct at the waters surface but my PH (last time I checked) was stable at 8.3
