    Hello everyone -

I've been running the 24" Tek light on my 25 reef, and it works very well. One thing I was wondering about, though, was how to clean the reflectors? I've been wiping them with glass cleaner, and this seems to work. However, I was on vacation for awhile, and on the last day I believe the water evaporated too much and the pump was shooting out bubbles. This caused what I believe to be some minor corrosion on the reflectors.

Obviously the relfectors are an important part of the lighting set-up, can anyone give me some tips on how to polish them up?

Unfortunately, I cannot.....but I gotta ask. Do you have a protective cover for your fixture?

i would be careful cause if you leave any chemicals moisture could build up then possibly drip into your system. just a precaution. i try to clean without chem. around my tanks. as for reflectors i think you can get replacements that are like mirrored paper. if you can't get yours clean. good luck

Unfortunately, I don't have the protective lens, but I ordered one a few minutes ago.

Good man. That will prevent any further damage. K+ for thinking ahead.

I figured. It seems like it would have been a good idea in the first place though...live and learn.

Seriously, there is so much to think about in this hobby that much of it learned on the fly. So don't kick yourself. You made a GREAT decision in getting that lighting. Ya just missed an accessory.....

I was looking for a way to clean mine as well and read that a mixture of vinegar and water should help. In extreme case I read some post of people using acetone, but thats going to be my last resort. (do some research on the acetone method if you plan on using it ;).

Yes, the TEK light is a great fixture. Props to the owner of Planet Reef, in saint Louis who brought it to my attention, AND gave me a great deal on it!

Secondly, I'm glad I'm not the only one who made this mistake.

    Any other opinions?

    Thanks.

I use vinegar and water. I then brush it and finish off by using my polishing wheel adapter for my drill :p Works great, but this is a rather large MH reflector.
