I got these pieces of rock from a friend today who has had these since last week Tuesday without lighting.
Would the polyps eventually re-open, given enough light and what type of coral is that in the back?
    Any help is greatly appreciated...
    Cheers

Does the coral in the back have a hard skeleton or, is it soft?

    It's hard.
Also, my nitrates are high at 160ppm. I'm trying to lower them by water changes but no luck yet. Would that also prevent them from opening?
