most likely just get acclimatized to your tank. lighting , different water conditions even salinity can make them take their time opening up fully.

how long do you think it could take? and if something is wrong with them, how will i know? i'm trying to read up on polyp behavior but i haven't found anything about retractions or anything.

only time will tell when they will open. theyre a hardy coral normally , so i wouldnt worry to much. even GSP can take a while to acclimate and fully open. also when handling polyps, take care. they can sometimes release a toxin that some people have a reaction too. but thats usually when fragging them.

just let them in one spot. the more you move them, the longer it will take to acclimate them.

I would wait about a week to see if they open up fully. If they do not open up within a week, try moving it closer to the bottom and waiting. But one day is not anything to get really worried about.
