this is more of a unsure question. if you place a pom pom in the sand no where near any other rock, will that slow there growth or will it continue to grow on the sand ?

they'll grow on the sand, I have some doing that in my 58g

I'm thinking about setting up a toilet as a sealed system with saltwater and a flash light for lighting I bet they'll grow in there to

Depends on the sand. If its fine aragonite sand it won't usually attach to that, but if its coarse, gravelish sand it will.
