Pompano are in the jack family, and they get rather large. To my knowledge, they get up to 2feet. So somthing like a 300g would need to be used to keep them for long. They are also carnivores, so they would eat everything else in the tank. It probaly wouldnt be advised to keep them in a tank.

However, when my bro lived in FL we use to go out on the peirs and catch them, mMmMmMmMm they taste really good!

not to go against you, but the tank requirement for them are going to be something alot larger, 1000 plus for them to thrive. they schooling fish on top of that. but again not to go against you in any way geekdafied.

I was going by the requirments for pilot jacks which get bigger then pompano jacks. Minimum requirment for a pilot is 300g. MOST fish are schooling fish at some point in their lives. If you had one or two pompano you would be fine with a 300g tank, but that is also the minimum because of their natural behavior.

They do put up one hell of a fight. Especially for their size. We would beach fish in Ft Walton Beach , and we'd think we had a monster on there, nope, it was just another pompano, lol. One time I was about 50 yards off the beach and was reeling something in, all of a sudden I saw a LARGE dark mass coming towards me as I was reeling it in. It was a whole school of them following the one hooked. It freaked me out, hahaha.
