phpUn7W7JPM.jpg So I have got to a point with the tank that I want to make it look like a 12k tank. I figure that is what we put into these large tanks for the equipment and fish and corals then whey not. I have more rock then I need so here is my thought. I remove the first side say I start on the left side of the tank(its a 220 so 6x30x24) take the first two ft as my starting point. I remove the rock here. I will then drill it and install the rock together with plastic rod and zip ties how I want to make it. I wil then put it into a holding tank for a couple days to make sure its not going to mess things up. Then put it back in and remove my middle 2 ft and make it how I want it and do the same followed by the last 2 ft. Does this sound like im going to make more of a mess then anything? I will be going from the over 425 lbs of lr to more like 350 as I want more room for action. I am posting a pic of it currently. Is this a good idea?

I'm all for it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of minimalist aquascaping and there's a few threads I'm taking inspiration from. Luckily I'm doing it from square one.

The tank looks great now IMO. but its not mine and im not the one that has to look at it everyday. It sounds like you have thought it out pretty well to me. I didnt see anything in the post about power heads or heater in the holding tank. Just a suggestion to help minimize die off. keep us posted with updates. I would like to see how it turns out.

I have a small landscape co and also install fountains and ponds in my store I have 56 20 gallon tanks for koi and gold fish and then there is a 240 and 3 55 gallon and another 20 20 gallon tanks that are all salt water so there is plenty there and at home I have 6 20 gallon tanks in series as qt tanks and a 150 salt fish only a red sea and the 220 in our room so there is a place or two for healing the rock lol. As far as changing it its just a matter of me looking at all these guys tanks that have big tanks and feel mine is not up to par. I mean I do landscape for a living but I do aquatics and masonary also so I just look for something more unique. When company comes over they are wowed by it but I guess I feel like I want more. so as far as heaters and powerheads im covered btw. I guess its just that landscape is almost over for the year and I am going to be stir crazy at the shop haha.

Sounds to me like you have it figured out and have all the equipment to make it a stunning tank. Cant wait to see it when its done.
