I think I might get a new skimmer. I can't say the Coralife 125 isn't trying but I would like to get more of the foam in the cup not on the floor.

I think I need a larger skimmer. I am going to be keeping more and more SPS so I think I might go over board. I am going to use the Coralife to setup a quarintine tank and use it intil I fill up my 75G. Then I think I will used the 29G as a home for my LPS and what ever doesn't like beening in the dayglow washing machine SPS tank. I am thinking maybe a ASM G4 or MRC beckket skimmer. I don't know yet what do you think?

Why don't you just attach an elbow on the side of the cup 1/2 way to 3/4 up the thing, put a hose on it and have it drain into a jug?

Man looks like it is really working!

I have 2 asm G-3 Skimmers The only thing i Can say about them to the negitive is that the return tube must be away from the sump return pump

It does have a drain and it is hooked up. If I setup the foam it is to stable as is and if I set it wetter the skimate just comes out pointless waterer. I was thinking the Coralife 220 but if I am going to get another skimmer I might as well go all out. The G-4 is the biggest skimmer I can fit under my stand and I would probably just go with the ASM except for one giant BUT. If I were to go with the ASM I would have to redo the fuge. Not a real biggy consider my sump layout but I would have some down time in the new fuge cycling. I would like a external skimmer so I could set it up like the Coralife hanging off the back of my sump. For some reason neither ASM or EuroReef have external skimmers. The seals on the sedras leak I guess. Anyway I have not found anyone that make large needlewheel skimmer that can be run external. Maybe Bubble King. So I was consider the MRC Beckett skimmer because I could mount it behind the tank. I don't know.

Here is the MRC I was thinking about.

The MR-1 would be more than enough but I was liking the MR-2 because of the upgradablity. You can add on a 2nd injector to the MR-2 and you can't on the MR-1. If I got the MR-2 and then someday down the road got a monster tank the MR-2 can be added on to until the skimmer is good for like 500G. Needlewheel vs. Becketts.....?

For what it's worth, my Aqua Medic Turboflotor Multi runs external.

So your problem with this Coralife is the fine tuning or lack there of?

No problem with the Coralife. It is just to small. I think the T1000 about the same size. Now if AM made the "T5000 Baby Multi" I would be in business but they don't. I like AM Matt but I don't think they have one for me.
