A bigger tank does definitely expand the possibilities in terms of stocking but it does have it's downside too. In the end, doing the best with what you have is what counts. Sometimes, larger isn't necessarily better if it's not done right.

Things weren't always so rosy, unfortunately. The system was hit with the dreaded 2 year curse half way through 2009 when I started to lose Acro colonies one by one. The first to go was a massive colony of Cali tort larger than a volleyball. Next went the other torts one at a time. Then the 2 softball size colonies of Purple Monster. The carnage didn't stop for almost a year. Never could figure out why it happened. Nothing was done differently and no big changes or additions. Just chalked it up to one of those things

This colony was well over 12" across

    Just some of the carnage!

Yep, it sucked BIG time, as in the bigger the tank, usually the bigger the problem. It takes more effort and longer time to resolve things. Like I said earlier, there are drawbacks to having a large tank. The most frustrating thing was that no matter what I did, nothing seemed to have helped until it just ran it's course. It took almost 2 years for me to feel comfortable putting new sticks back into the tank without killing them in short order.

Love your tank, you have the Watanabe angel pair I want but due to my tank size and wanting other fish will only be able to get the male.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks SkyFire! Just a note on the watanabeis. Not sure how long you've had your male, but at one point, I only had a male. After about 6 months, it slowly reverted back to female coloration. It's not uncommon for angels to do that if there isn't a female around. Keep in mind that when you are ready to add another, make sure to get a female and not another male because the original will turn male again really fast and you will have a fight on your hands.
