This project is dedicated to my wife. This whole thing started while putting up christmas decorations with my wife. we begane to put our lights away when she asked me if these blue lights would work as moon lights for my reef tank. I laughed and at first said no then begane to think and decided I would try it and see what I got.

    Cost: 10.00

Supplies: 1 2x4 (3.84), 1pack of 60 led blue christmas lights(5.00 on sale at tatrget).

Time: 10 minutes (this is just a prototype so bear with me)

I began by finding a drill bit that would hold the lights with out making them fall into the water final size was 5/16 on mine. i drilled the holes on groups of 3 running from top to bottom in no measured order and this is what I got.

and this is that light in action sitting right on top of the tank and this was taken from a crappy camera phone so bear with the pics.

I want feed back and any ideas that might make this cheeper and better this was a protype and i will post more photes and try to get the type of leds with specs on monday since Ill be working all weekend.

This is the same idea I had, just haven't done it yet. But I have a $3 string of 30 lights and a piece of hardwood I used to brace my canopy as it was being made.
I thought it may be too bright though...but seeing yours, perhaps not.

The whole idea of this was to see if it looked good and it does but more importantly is how the fish and corals react and the fish love it and the coral seem to as well. so far its been runnning for 5 days with no adverse side affects.

Im confused what do you mean here?
