Yes. A 10% water change will remove roughly 10% of the nutrients in the water column, as long as the water replaced is nutrient free. Using RO/DI water for your regular water changes should be bringing the nitrate and phosphate levels down.

Try Red Slime Remover from Dr Foster And Smith Aquatics. It comes in a real small container with a little scoop, but after 3 treatments with this stuff, my bad Cyano problem completely went away, and has not returned and it has been a few months.

My corols dont look like much right now, I am hoping that they are just a little mad from the clean up. Time will tell.

All the parameters are ok so if anyone has gone through this and has any advise I'ld love to here it. Thanks.

Yes they are shocked by your motivation LOL. Nearly impossible to kill that coral so I am sure it will bounce right back and grow like a weed.

    Update 05-18-2011

Ok still on the subject of getting my tank back on track. I noticed that my ph has been low since February. I know not good it was 7.8 last night at this time so I dosed it and now its up to 8.2 tonight. My phosphates are still a little high, I use tap water so I will never get rid completely, but I hope to get something this weekend at the lfs to help with it for now.

    Update 05-20-2011

I think I figured out something else that may be wrong with my system, so I went ahead and revampped my sump. I took all the plexy glass out and used the right silicone this time. I replace the plexy with 1/4 inch glass that I cut from an old 15 gallon tank I had. Here are some pics of how it turned out.

do u think the silcone was the problem also u might want get sum air pumps running in the sump the canopy doesnt have fans rite or vent holes ?i had the same problem with my canopy so i added two air pumps that sat out in the open room not under the tank to get fresh air to the tank.a canopy is almost like a glass top which prevents gas exchange and co2 lowers Ph....Ps thats a old steve wright trick

Thanks bioreefdude I never thought of it that way. I have to get some new air line today to set that up. Can I put the air stone in the sump?
