Our Porcupine Puffer has a fungus.. Like white cotton grewing on her. We have treated the tank and after 7 days did the water change. Could it just be the stress of being new in the tank? She looks terrible and to be honest the pet store was no help (we wont be buying from them again).

Ive done as much research by googling and searching and finally ran across a pic of what it looked like she had which as i stated above (white cotton). We lost one of our lionfish yesterday and i was just worried that maybe what she had killed it.

Should I just remove her from the tank and treat the rest of the tank to make sure they do not catch anything?

This makes twice I have bought something from this certain pet store and each time it brought something in my tank. The worse part is I did what i thought was right by having her in a small tank for 4 days then put her in the big tank. She seemed fine for a couple of days. Is this just not a good fish for home tanks?

We had bought a starfish 2 years ago from this pet store and the next thing i knew my tank crashed we lost all the fish and moreless had to start over. I didnt put the starfish by itself.. i just put it right in the tank... We was newbies at that time and really was just learning...

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Can you post an image?
Are you sure your water quality is ok?
    Is the fish still eating?

It's a fine fish for hobbyist. Needs a large tank and good water quality.

I would treat with some Melafix, but it sure would be nice to see an image and get an ID on what disease the fish has.

    Hey Corailline

Yeah the water levels are really good. We have the other tank in our bedroom and as you seen we have corals and the fish look great in it..We are really big on water changes... My partner told me if i didnt take it serious then i couldnt spend anymore money on it....lol We had never really had any issues with the killer tank downstairs. I have tried so many times to get a pic of her everyone ive gotten she moves on me... :( The pet store sold me pimafix.. have you heard of it? The directions was to treat 7 days then do water change. The girl at the pet store told us to kill the skimmer and the UV light on the tank till after treatment. Which i did... Thats like i just ran downstairs to the dinning room to see what the treatment was called and she is really active and eats great following me around....lol I really like her and our grandbaby loves her... Do you think I should turn the skimmer of again and the UV light and do another 7 day treatment? Maybe the first treatment wasnt enough

Both Melafix and Pimafix are made by the same company.

I suppose if you sure it's Fungal then Pimafix.

Our next door neighbor has a 75 gallon and came over and looked at the puffer and told us he was pretty sure it was fungus because of the white cotton. So that what we went with... Ill try tomorrow to get a pic of her... im off work and planned on doing some work on the tank anyways..
