I read a lot of peeps like the titanium heaters, I will be running 2 at 300w for my 125g.

As far as filter do you mean skimmer or an actual canister filter?

I've got a single 300 watt heater in my 125 gallon tank but I keep the house at 74 and the pumps and lights keep the tank at 78 without the heater kicking in. I've got it set for 76 just in case though.

Yeah mine is in the basement so it stays pretty cool but I will run 2 heaters just as a safety precaution as I hear the heaters seem to fail more often than most equiptment so if one fails I will always have some heat going until I get the bad one replaced.

Dont know if this is what you meant about a filter but the last owner of my tank used to run an ocean clear filter canister. I will not be using it on my system as I prefer more biological filtration over mechanical but each person has their own way of doing it. I am not sure the size of this filter since it doesnt say anything on it pertaining to that. Its about as big as a small bucket like the ones you would use when washing your car.

As far as a heater, you would be better off with 2 smaller ones than 1 large one. That way if one fails on, you don't bake your tank, and you will also have a more even temp in the tank if you put the heaters at opposite ends.

I like ebo jaeger heaters, and the stealth heaters are good too.

For a filter, I would toss a 55 gallon tank under it for a sump with a big skimmer and a bunch of live rock / rubble and maybe a filter sock and call it good. There are loads of sump layouts for all kinds of setups, a little homework would get you the perfect one. I would never consider a canister filter for a saltwater tank, I have used them in freshwater setups, but there just not ideal for what we do. I never need heaters here in FL, the house is always at 77-78 so my tank never gets under that.
