+1 . Ive been burned way to many times by paypals protection. Paypal is not a bank and doesnt have to adhere to the same rules. So if anything use your credit card.

i know people that work for paypal and they say themselves that paypal is not very safe and doesn't provide much payment protection. i've had a disappointment on ebay a time or two and paypal did nothing. the good people at ebay got my money back. so don't bank on paypal, but your credit card company will cover it.

Yes, but IME dealing with CC companies is not a fun thing to do.

Do it through paypal, if he won't, then I would not do it at all.

What I cant believe is if your worried about it then why chance it ? Also paypal is probably the worst advice ever. They are not a bank and don't have to follow the same regulations which means they dont have to try to return a dime.

I have never had an issue with paypal, and I have done a lot of transations though them with motorcycle parts through private parties.

I see your point about the "not a bank" thing though.

The problem is that if someone wants to rip you off, you have to be on your toes, or you can be out of $$.

I also agree that I would not chance a situation that might put me or my $$ in danger. Pass on it, your GF will be proud of you not spending her $$ LOL

Also, doing business with individuals that are private parties that are not local can be shady at best. Who is to say he will even send you the corals you thought you were buying, and what recourse would you have? Trying to explain to a CC company that they sent you green paly's instead of blue hornets as a reason for declining the charges might make them wonder a bit.

I'm watching Dallas lose too! Woot Woot!

I've had security issues with Pay Pal, but they were really good about refunding my money. It was just a pain. I definitely wouldn't give my cc # to some random person - scary! I had my card number taken once and used and the credit card company wouldn't refund my money.
