    Hi Everyone,

Just looking for a second opinion, I am looking to make my way into a marine tank after my long stint within African cichlids.

I am talking to someone looking to sell me there tank + sump for a very cheap price.

    Here is the details:

    1. 75G tank, drilled with what he refers to as a "V style" over flow -or- trough over flow

    2. A fully working sump

    3. spa flex tubing 1.5" with 1.5" union ball valves

    Other facts:

    - Tank setup is 2 years old
    - Has been dry for 1 month

Is there anything outside of testing the equipment I should be focusing on?

I would not be able to start it today, I would still be an RO, heaters, lights, rock, sand but I am ok with separate purchases.

It is $300 for 75G perfecto marine land land with drilled back and v style over-flow, 30G hagan sump, pump (unknown), spa flex tubing 1.5" with 1.5" union ball valves.

I am not short on money but I am looking for a deal and I want to be educated on what to look out for outside the obvious if I am missing something.

My next step would be to decide what you want in the tank! Fish only, softies, lps, sps etc! Peruse liveaquaria.com and look around at some tanks on here!

Then go read some build threads and come up with a shopping list! Then post that on here with what you plan on keeping in the tank!

But to start get a RODI unit, salt, rocks, sand(not live), a good heater and thermometer and a cheap power head to help mix your salt(also another cheaper heater to mix the salt) and a refractometer! and good test kits

Then you'll need to research lights(very important if keeping corals) skimmer, other test kits and either a few powerheads or a wavemaker!

WElcome, lots to learn and read! ask away when if ya get confused!

For sure, any opinions on the V style over flow, if done right, quiet? Does a decent job?

Decent price for sure, I know most people are paying that for 40G in Ottawa, Canada.

maybe try the search in the equipment section to see if there are any posts on it! I have no idea! If you don't find anything, post a new thread there!

The V-overflow mind-you is the owners word for it, when i did a search I couldn't find it but essentially if this '/' equals a peice of plexi glass and '|' represents the back of the tank and our perspective is on the side it is like this.

Where the V-overflow spans the entire width of the tank, the principal seems fine.
