uploadfromtaptalk1349126893844.jpg so I cleaned out the closet today and I tell you with a little bit of support on the shelving unit there and some modifications I could make this a nice set up.

I'm in the process of setting up a ninty with a similar idea as this. I bought it used, and it had a sump that was undersized in my opinion. So I decided to plumb it through the wall behind the tank into a closet (which is under stairs, so it gets smaller kinda like yours looks).

In the closet I'm adding a large remote fuge, keeping the sump under the stand. Also, I plan on plumbing my return lines through the wall from the sump so I can get the tank as close to the wall as possible (Currently debating removing the trim on the wall so I can mount it completely flush).

I'd say go for it. If it's anything like mine, then it'll be extremely easy to setup.

Didn't think about removing the facing to make it completely flush, the only problem I see having is I'll have to put the overflow pipe in the wall and bring it down roughly a foot or so until it is low enough to come into the closet, but I like the idea of having a remote refugium in the closet, I could have like a refugium on one level and the sump on the next, but then I would need another return pump... but then again maybe not

with teh shelving issue I would try to remake it out of a solid wodd if it is not wlready teh partical board stuff is crap.

but I would go with the extra room espically when you get so much of it

My tank drains through the bottom, so it made the overflow pipe easy.

I haven't finished plumbing this all yet, but the plan is to have the water from one overflow Y. Part will go straight into the sump, the other part (using a valve to control flow) will enter the remote fuge. The fuge is drilled, and the overflow from that will run into the sump.

This means I only have one return pump.

I'd be worried your shelves wouldn't be strong enough. But it's easy enough to have the fuge higher than the sump, and have it overflow into it.

that is it exactly, just plum it to where it flows forom teh main tank to teh remote fuge, than habve it flow to the return section bypassing the skimmer and such to treturn to the tank.

Unfortunately my tank as a tempered bottom, and this is what I was thinking about just have the refug pour into the sump.

buy a overflow that hangs on the back or drill the back, just make sure to have duel overflows. plum one to teh remote fuge and have it drain back to teh return section of teh sump. have teh other fill the skimmer section/return section and bam the best of both worlds.

You don't need two. Just have one split, and then slow the flow through the fuge with a valve. Shouldn't be too hard :)
