You could just buy a 20L, a HOB filter and a nice little T5HO lights if you want to do some softies. And just do water changes over other week and you should be fine..It will run you about $100 depending on where you get your stuff.

Thanks for the pictures! And quick too! It looks like your pump is in a box made of eggcrate, and separated with something in the next compartment. Could you tell me what is going on in the box? It looks like it might be just filter floss. maybe some carbon.

And on the other end, where the return is, will that be where you put macro algae?

Inside the filter box I stuffed some floss for the initial startup. I have since removed it as I am going with no mechanical filtration. I plan on eventually housing the macro in the opposite end were you see my skimmer as well as my carbon and gfo. I paid a little over 200.00 for the tank and got it from Aquatic Eco Inc. in Orlando,Fl. Thanks for the compliments. Anyone interested can check out my tank thread.http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off-your-fish-tanks/120-gallons-love-102001-11.html#post1120404

I think I will do something similar as your setup but with a 20 gallon long or a cheap rubbermaid or some container like yours. I like the eggcrate idea to separate the different ends. I might make a wall of egg crate on both sides instead of a box for the pump. And maybe instead of multiple powerheads I think adding a few few tee fittings can get more diverse flow
