SO I was thinking about how much money I have spent on RO/DI water from the LFS (.45 a gallon) and .99 saltwater and think I may be able to save money and the hassle of carrying water around.. BUT, I live in an apartment at the moment... How would I hook it up? What would I hook it up to? I saw some for like $100 bux.. is this the price range I should be looking for? Can anyone suggest anything? What are you using?? Post pics and links of where you bought it if possible!
    Thanks!!

You hook a nozzle up to a sink. That nozzle goes into the unit where it gets de-ionized or such. Then the water is emptied into a container of your choosing (could be a bucket or anything).

I'm not familiar with RO or DI or RO/DI....i think theres a difference. Hopefully this will help you with the thought and tide you over until you get a good response. However, one of our sponsors makes very good RODI (so I've heard).

The biggest thing is GPD - gallon per day output capability. I assume you dont need a whole lot for a 29g, so take into consideration how much top off you do daily and how often you do water changes. BTW, why do you actually purchase the saltwater? I would think that would be a pain!

I bought a nice little unit from www.airwaterice.com Products and answers for your water treatment needs. It's called the MightyMite & is perect for the size tank you have. The cost is $99 + shipping. You can either hook it up to your faucet or tap it into a water line using a saddle valve. The company has great customer service. Answered emails quickly. Shipped it out the same day I placed the order. Sent emails with tracking #s, etc

Thanks MDeth.. yes I usually purchase saltwater 5 gallons at a time every monday from my LFS and yes it is a pain lol.. but the tap water at my apt sucks. It is very much a pain, especially when I need water ASAP.. got back in town Sunday and my water level was lower than I would have liked or my aquac preskimmer would have liked! GPD shouldnt be much since its a 29 gal and only evaporates about 1 gallon per week.

Thanks for the link glampka.. seems like a pretty decent price and its pretty compact.. might almost be able to mount it under my kitchen sink.

I thought I read somewhere that if you were to get an RO unit, to make sure that it had clear containters (dont know the real word) so you can see the filter material?

That works awesome unless your unit is mounted somewhere where it gets sunlight exposure. When that happens, you actually get algae growing in the prefilters.

haha.. get used to it.. the list is never ending

inwall75, i dont think sunlight will be an issue since I could possible mount it under my kitchen sink.. I dont think it will see much light there. I'm in an apt so i am limited to mounting positions
