    I decided to order a Apogee Instruments Quantum PPF Sensor to measure the light output of my lights and was just wondering if anyone else has taken PAR readings and what your results were? I just got the sensor in the mail today right before work and didn't have time to take some measurements before work. I will take some readings tomorrow afternoon and post my results. It would be nice to see some results of people with different lights to kind of compare lights and see how much difference there is between PAR results on halides, T5s, VHOs, and PCs.

    Something like this:

    EXAMPLE
    Lights = 2x250w Corallife HQI
    Bulbs = Pheonix 20,000K
    Bulb Age = 6 months
    Tank Size = 75 Gallon
    Open top or glass = open
    PAR upper = 700
    PAR Middle = 600
    PAR Sandbed = 500

    lighting, so your numbers ARE very comparable to mine...
    I am surprised to see 370uMol/m2/sec on the sand, thats 100 more than mine...... Do you have alot of flow? Oh, you are using ATI which will give you that extra boost...

    Someone posted a pic on the Local Dallas board with their results. Wish I could find the pic but he had 400w MH with a deep tank.
    It was 900 top
    800
    700 at bottom

    Man I wish I had a meter... I really wanna know now! I didn't know there was that much difference in various spots. I thought it went by depth. I didn't know flow had something to do with how light traveled! INTERESTING! I have 8 T5s retro'd at 85 watts on a 55g right now but alot of rock work. I was going to try to eliminate 4 of the T5s and put Metal Halides but have been getting different stories on which is better. This is a thread I want to keep an eye on. Where can I find a meter that wont break my bank?
