Okay, so I figured I would share this experience.

My son who just turned 2 on June 27th started potty training last week. His is doing really good. We have about 2 wet pull ups a day, depending on whether we are home or not. As long as we are at home, we do not have any wet pull ups, but he does still poop in them. Yesterday and Today, we turned a bit of a corner. He pooped in the potty both days and today he warned my wife before hand. That is a first time he has warned us about needing to go to the potty.

So anyways, I am just waiting for him to start telling us he needs to potty so that we are not having to take him every hour, lol. I don't know how common it is to have a boy potty trained at 2, but I know that he is ahead of the other 2 year olds at church.

Yeah 2 is pretty early. My daughter is 2.5 and is doing the same thing. I think around 3 is normal, but damn it diapers are expensive. She has been doing pretty good though. We got up this morning and I asked her if she needed to go. She went over to the potty and took care of business, then cheered about it afterwards. I think my oldest was around 2.5 as well. I'll be ready to get this one out of diapers. But then they start the "I got to pee" every time we hop in the truck and start driving somewhere.

Ha I bet that's true about driving. That has crossed my mind.

My son is 2.5. We have got him to go in the potty chair a few times but the interest is not all the way there. I started him at 1.5 with some success. Wish I had stuck to it more. I blame myself a bit here. We are planning a weekend to roll up the carpet and put him in real underwear soon. It was supposed to be last weekend - but then we all got the stomach flu! Not a good time to start. :) Hope to pick it up next weekend. I am READY to get him out of diapers. lol

Good luck and congrats on getting this far.

yes, 2 is early Zgetman. If you really think he's ready, you probably just need to go all out and not let him wear the pull ups and wear just regular underwear.....have him wear the pull ups at night. Take some extra clothes with you when you go out and you may have a couple of accidents.

If he continues to have frequent accidents, I may suggest waiting a little longer especially if it starts to create stress for him and you. Just turning 2 is really young to fully potty train. HTH.

We didn't "start" until our son was 3 and we didn't really have to do much by then. He learned by watching because God forbid you try to go to the bathroom with the door closed once my kid became mobile  He's been out of diapers for a year now and has never had an accident, even at night. Wiping his own butt was the next challenge but he's taking care of that on his own now too.

Not really ready for no pull-up at all.

Okay, so I praised him here on the forums and then took him potty. He went pee in the potty and I thought we would wait a little longer, but nothing happened. Then about 30 mins later I decided it was nap time and he went to the bathroom and I went to pull his pull-ups down and he had pooped and peed in his pull-up.

I will say this much, the last few mornings after we wake up his diaper has been dry.

Congrats, it sounds like you are almost through the easy part!

The hard part will be retraining them not to pee in the yard, on the bushes, against the tree, in front of the neighbors, etc ;D.

My youngest is 8 (he's a bit ADHD) and will still run past the bathroom to get outside to pee "because he has to go so bad and its so far to the toilet"....and then forget all about it when he spots a beetle on the way out.
