I bought a pbt about 2.5 months ago, had him qt in a 72 gallong tank for 2 months then moved him to the display tank.

He still managed to get ich last week, With the 300 lbs of rock in the tank and all his hiding spaces I think the chase alone would kill him to get out of the tank, He is itching on the rocks today, and has quite a bit of spots this morning. he is still eating, Algae sheets and gracilaria mostly, but eats like a pig

Water parameters are great checked this morning, and he doesnt have any competition or anyone to stress him out

I have heard some good things about the ich remedies that are safe for reef tanks, is this a viable option or should I just wait it out? What are the reef safe ones that people have had luck with?

Sorry to hear about your PBT - they are unfortunately notorious ich magnets - as far as the cure? I give you a bump for others to provide their advice. There are so many different cures and remedies and methods of treatment - everyone will have their own take on it.

You will have to do whats best for you and your setup.

    Best of luck to you!

My experience is if he is eating like a pig he will recover. Since you'll never catch him, don't stress him. Keep him fed and hope for the best...

Agreed. The fact that it's eating means chances are good that it should be able to fight off the parasite on its own.

Okay so trying something like ich attack would be wasted?

I know I won't catch him with out destroying the tank and stressing him out. He hides when you look at him

I've been using. Garlic and selcon

It's not surprising that it will only eat greens considering tangs are vegetarian. The fish will be healthier if you don't feed it meaty foods.
