I bought a powder blue tang last week at my lfs. I have a deal with him, I purches fish - he keeps it for one week and observes it before I pick it up. This arrangemant has worked well. At the lfs he was eating and doing well, I brought him home two days ago and he will not eat, other than to pick at the rocks. I have tried dried nori soaked in garlic, flake food, myis shrimp. He was eating nori at the lfs. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Is this normal not to eat for a few days? My other fish ate the first day. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of my tangs didn't eat right away.. It took them anywhere from 12-48 hours to decide they wanted to start eating. But once they do, watch out lol.

My whitecheek wouldn't eat for a couple days. Maybe try live brine if your LFS sells it. The only algae mine will eat is Julian Sprung's Purple Seaweed

If its pecking then it should start to eat do not kill the water parameters by tossing in everything but the kitchen sink trying to make it eat . what are the parameter of the water now ? from Ammonia to specific gravity ? and lower the lighting for a day or so and stay away from the tank also will help.

    +1 on lower lighting

PB's can be a very easily stressed, resist the temptation to check on him too often, any movement near the tank can add to this stress.

I agree, watch him from a distance. After a day or two I would also try Rod's Food "herbivore". It has garlic as well as multiple forms of nori. My tang's go nuts for it and the garlic should help keep ick away while the fish is stressed.
