With the recent death of my kole tang, some bioload has opened up. I want to add one of two things. I was thinking about either a powder brown tang or a school of chromis. An employee at my LFS said that powder browns are nasty, but I've heard otherwise and it would probably stay small enough to live long term in my 90. Otherwise, I was thinking of a school of green chromis. What are some opinions?

I would personally go with the tang for 2 reasons. First, I like tangs. A lot. And second, if your going for a "school", keep in mind that quite often, chromis won't school. It could leave you disappointed.

imho chromis rock. i have 5 in my 75 and they run around as a school (too small to call a shoal) all day long. been thinking about adding a bunch more. i have green, but would love to find some blue chromis at the lfs some day. one tip - chromis seem to have some attrition on introduction to the system - i started with 9 and ended up with 5, and have seen others say the same thing.

Never have been much of a fan of cardinals. Not trying to take anything away from them... they're great fish, just not for me.

yeah i was debating between cardinals or chromis and i went with chromis as well.. chromis are beautiful fish though, mine eat straight out of my minds, such active and gorgeous fish, even a small group of 3 keeps me fascinated :D

Chromis usually will always pick off the weakest of the school until there are a small, odd number of them. I would go with the powder brown. They look awesome, better than the powder blue IMO

So, ARE THEY PEACEFUL COMMUNITY FISH??? I just want to know if he'll pick on my clown gobies or small fish. I love nano fish and I tend to keep my tank full of 'em. My yellow tang has been no problem. Will one of these be more aggressive? Oh, and, I have two cleaner shrimp, a UV, and I would add a neon goby with him to help with ich.

chromis will be less bioload, more peaceful, will live like kings roaming your tank while the powder brown is bigger, more bioload, more prone to ich, and less colorful :DDDD and more expensive! hha
