Ah, right. I'm a little out of it I guess ;D. Well, I already have a Yellow Tang, so a Violet Tang is out of the question. My tank is about 1/3 the size of a tank for a Vlamingi. I'm leaning towards Chromis.

you wont' be disappointed with chromis, they are just SO active.. try to find a small group of chromis that has been at the LFS together.. if it was me, i would rather choose 5 chromis from a tank that only has 5 chromis than a tank that has 20 chromis for me to choose 5.. they look mostly the same and if they have been tgoether, chances of them not fighting in your tank will be greater.. they eat out of my hand and they go NUTS during feeding time, fun fish

I like the chromis , i started with 5 only two left. They were really small from Foster and smith. The guarenteed 15 day arrive alive is really useful.

My LFS keeps their blue/green chromis in a 150-200 gallonish tank with about 40 of them. The blue chromis, however, are housed in a 15 gallonish tank, but they usually don't have more than 2 or 3 at a time. I'm personally a fan of the blue/green chromis.

If I want a school of 5, should I get 5 or 7? Oh, and, if I end up losing more than I expected, will chromis accept new members of the school, or will they kill off new additions? I like the blue too. I think a large part of the reason I like blue/green better is because while I do like the two about equally, blue/green go for around $4.00 each, while blue chromis are around $17.00 a pop. That adds up for a school!

after a while in this hobby you just stop paying attention to the price.
its only too expensive if my card gets rejected. lol

well thats until i get the bill for college tuition. :-/

but the summer usually all good for purchases

costs only go up in this hobby. you can add to your chromis group if it ends up too small. each time you pick a group and add it to the tank, or each time you add to the existing group, they'll sort themselves out and a few weak ones may not make it. haven't heard of anyone ending up with two separate groups yet...

Just actually bought 5 blue green chromis. I love them! I have only had them for about 3 days, but they stay in a pretty tight school, every now in then they break up but they always find their way back together. Im thinking about getting a few more.

My purple tang loves them, it actually looks like he leads the school around. Its pretty fun to watch.
