    WOW, I would be in so much trouble if that was enforced by the police...

    I had a purple, a powder brown and a tomini in my old 75. yes, the brown was very active and I would not recommend it in the 40 as the OP asked.

    I now have a Sohal, Naso and Purple in my 180, and I firmly believe that the 180 is too small for them. the purple may be ok, but the other two will outgrow it. sadly ill have to give mine up eventually.

    If you are dead set on a tang, look to a Kole or something and try to keep them to about 1" in length when you get them. the bristletooth ones wont get as large.

    It means lenght of tank som3 reef3r

    4ft = 4ft tank, 5ft = 5ft tank
    so basically the bristletooth varieties Kole, Tomini etc are OK in 4ft long tanks that are wide and deep enough to hold at least 75 gallons
    its to ensure the fish of various species have adequate swimming lenght
    hence a 3ft cube containing over 75 gallons would not be ideal for these fish
