We had a nitemare a couple of years ago. Thank God I was home. I was heading out to the store and glanced back at the freshwater. I knew the water was low but was going to fill it later. When I got back I looked over at it and noticed it was down about 3 inches!! I knew it hadn't been that low. I called husband and said YIKES! The tank went into rubbermaids (thank you for those) but probably 10-15 gallons was onto the floor soaking into the carpet. Tank (less than 1 year old) was moved, husband tore up carpet to get wet/dry vac.

****NOTE TO EVERYONE.....DO NOT DO WHAT HUSBAND DID....... he then decided to keep any mold/bacteria from forming by spraying lysol on the floor area. Within 4 hours it has wafted upstairs, and around the corner to my REEF TANK !! It was cloudy all of a sudden (it had killed all the good bacteria in saltwater). I freaked AGAIN ! We made up 3 buckets -fresh saltwater- stired it and started throwing in corals and fish. My female momma clown was laying on her side on the rock. He picked up up, threw her in new saltwater bucket and we prayed !!

My clown (about 7 years old now) still lays her eggs and is doing well I'm glad to say. She is as much as a part of our family as my children are ! lol My brain coral, leather, few polyps made it. All snails but a couple of naserius? snails died It was a hard lesson learned.

Was your 55 bowing in the middle due to a cracked center brace? It is very common on certain manufacturers of 55 gallons as I found out when mine did that.
