How do all of you have your power heads directed? Circular current? Hi low? Just kinda curious on how you all work the flow in your tank.

I have the strongest flow at the top. Its basically random. I have two power heads pointing left and right.
Then two more pointing towards the front glass ( like at a 45 degree angles). The flow collides somewhere in the middle and it gets dispersed all over the tank.

I have 2 more in the bottom of the tank pointing a bit up and towards the rocks to make it as random as possible.

I have my rock set up in a corner and a powerhead at the top pointing in that direction, while creating quite a bit of disturbance on the surface, while the return pump for my biocube pump points at my frag rack :p

The advantages (IMO) of high surface disturbance, is lots of gas exchange, stable pH, and it looks cool on the sandbed depending on your lights. ;D

I like circular. One blowing near bottom along the back glass(left side). The other blowing across the front(right side) and over the corals. I find that it keeps food and detritus from collecting. If I had a third, I would supplement the one on the right side and angle it to get more coral flow.

I have both mine on the back glass in the corner pointing forward and angled in towards the middle of my tank..... problem thou.....

Pretty sure my stupid power heads aren't strong enough for my tank. I'm getting a lot of stuff on the sand bed. What size are your tanks and what power heads are you using if you don't mind me asking. I think I'm going to be in the market for some new ones.

Don't replace them add to what you have. I currently have 8 powerheads in my tank, which definitely gives me random flow. I have JBJ Oceanstreams.

As far as #'s of water movers, I currently have 7 total.

This includes the return and a total of 6 various size power fans, and power heads.

Mine are kinda random, lots of flow

For realzies!!!! Well dang. I guess that is my new plan then. Thanks for opening up my eyes guys. Ill just keep adding to what I got and make it totally random cause Thatd what I think will be best.

Another question... what about all your coals. With all that flow did you guys buy coral That require a ton of flow or just place them strategically in the tank. Or is it look for corals to be "blow" around
