Power head in Fuge

    Anyone else put a powerhead in their Fuge ? I recently added a korilia Nano just to up the circulation through my chaeto ball / liverock. Seemed like a good idea lol any thoughts ?

    i've thought about the same thing. i have always heard that fuges are supposed to have low flow though, so i've never tried. let me know if you see any results from this experiment...

    I always heard about the lower flow too just so that the filtration process is better and more efficient but nothing like experimenting w/ it so let's us know what results you have

    I know that Tangster has a PH in his fuge just to make waterborne the detritus that settles in there. He says it's great coral food, and it's free. As for the "low flow through the fuge" comment--I think if you put the PH on a timer, for example, 5 minutes per day, just to blow stuff around in there and get it into the return pump; it would achieve both goals. It would feed your corals periodically, and maintain low flow thru the fuge for 99.7% of the time. (5 min's per day is .03% total time of 24 hours).

    reefsparky's idea is a great one, but you also want to make sure your bioload isnt too extreme or you could start a mini-cycle... then again, you would need ALOT of bacteria ;)
