Ok. So I had a 30 gallon bucket with live rock in it that I either removed from my tank or recently bought to add to my main tank. I had a power head running in it also. A few weeks ago I walked in the room and could smell something burning and finally realized it was the power head in the bucket.

    I have 2 questions,

First; Do i have anything to worry about with the rock? I am figuring I will drain the bucket soak the rocks in fresh water for a couple days then dry them out before putting them back in water.

Second: I dont remember what kind of pump it is and there is no marking. If I put a picture up can anyone tell me or is there a way I could tell if I take it apart?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sure, put up pictures. The worst that can happen is nobody will recognize your powerhead :)

Thats a maxi jet what part of it exactly melted?

Sometimes pumps just go bad. I could have been all kinds of things that caused it to melt.

You rock will be fine nothing to worry about just have to get a new pump lol

Nothing external actually melted. I am figuring it was the motor that burnt up because there was a film on the water, black stuff floating, and after the burning smell was gone from the room if I stirred the water the smell came back.

I already rinsed the rock and filled the bucket with fresh water so I am commited. lol
