    Hi,

I want to get a power head for my tank and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions about good brands and what size I would need? I have a 37 gallon tank with just fish and live rock.

    Thanks!

what do you have already moving the water about?

Maxijet, Korallia, are 2 brands of Power head I have used and like them all

making suggestion as to GPH output would depend on what flow you already have going on in your tank

Both good recommendations but both very different powerheads. The MJ1200 gives out a very narrow blast of water like a concentrated jetstream. The Koralias on the other hand have a nice wide dispersed flow which does not bother corals and fish as much. The Koralias also come with a nice swivel magnet mount while the MJ comes with and over the side bracket and suction cups. MJ powerheads can be modified so they are a propeller pump like the Koralias but I have tried several of the kits available and all vibrated or had other problems, plus you have the added expense of the kit.
I would go with a K2 to start and maybe add another if you decide to go corals in the future.

Just like steve said both brands are great and I myself use both of them the maxi jet for my calcium reactor and korallias in my DT

I would go with 2 koralia #2. I have 2 #1 in my tank and they do a great job

I have Koralia 1's in my DT and a Maxi-Jet running my phosphate reactor. I definitely prefer the Koralia for the DT - lots of swiveling capability and they hold fast with the magnetic back.
