So I have just started the freshwater testing on my 60 gal to see how all my equipment is working. I have two koralia 3 and a maxi jet 1200 and I have found that the maxi jet is just to loud to keep seeing how the tank is in my room. I am wondering what I should get instead of the maxi jet? As well do my gallon turnover rate look pretty decent?

    Thank you.

I have 2 koralia's in my tank which too were noisy to start but after a week can't hear a thing from them now, seems they need to get broke in?

that is too much. The maxi 1200 are horrible. the flow is all in one direction. stick with the kolaria.

So I have to much water flowing is what your saying? Should I just take out the maxi jet and call it a day with 2 kolaria's 3?

you want around 50x turnover 60X50=3000gph
i don't know the gph on koralia 3s but i think your still under.

if your want to keep the maxijet you can get a sureflow upgrade which will knock up the gph alot and diffuse the flow more

The koralia 3s are 850 gph each. I did try to the maxi jet upgrade but all it did was make it retartedly loud.

Hi kanook, I'm not sure why it is "loud". Is it against the glass or something? I have a 55 gal. and have 2 Koralia 4s plus two returns from the sump powered by a Mag 7. The battle cry for aquariums (salt anyway) is "we want flow"! I don't think you have too much and if the maxi is loud I would replce it with another Koralia 3.

I have to respectfully disagree with it being too much. I do agree with the second sentence. I dislike Maxi 1200s also. I had to have one on my siphon assist OF and it was a POS.

I agree. I try to steer people in the 40 to 50x range myself. I run 34x right now and it is not near enough. I have two K-3s in my 90g now (I just upgraded from a 75g). I am going to put 2 K-4s where the K-3s are now and move the K-3s to the back. That will put me at 53x.

I would get rid of the Maxi1200 and replace it with two K-2s. So you would have four Koralias giving you flow. You would be at 2900GPH in just Koralias, which is 48x.

Here is a good seller on eBay that a few of us 3reefers have gone through for our flow needs. 100% feedback rating and careful shipping.
