I have had some power outages lately - one this morning while at work (girlfriend called when tunze ato alarm went off)...

When the power goes back on, there is a small period of time where the sump is pretty full and skimmer fills up as a result until the sump water level returns to normal.

    Anyone else get this?

Is there a device I can plug the skimmer into that would delay restart after a power outage for about 5 minutes? That would be ideal...

If you had the RKL you could set the skimmer to sure on...which is a 15 min time delay to make sure halide bulbs cool off enough before re statring after power outages.....controllers are the way to go..

I know this is an VERY old thread but it popped up when I was trying to find a way to prevent my skimmer from restarting after a power outage as the water level in the sump rises when the power goes out and when it comes back on the return pump has not had a chance to bring the sump water level back to the normal level and this results in the skimmer overflowing back into the sump and all over my stand walls / other equipment because the water is so high when power is restarted. Well if you do not have a controller this simple device will prevent the skimmer from restarting until you manually reset the plug. (TRC Shockshield White Portable GFCI Plug with Surge Protection part number 14650 006-6) and its very cheap. (less than $20). Its just a GFCI but with a MANUAL Reset and not a AUTO reset so if the power goes out you have to manually reset it or the device plugged into it will not have power. Anyway, I bought it, tested it, and it worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone as I could not easily find this information online.

"To prevent unmonitored equipment startup, manual reset is required after GFCI trip and power outage"

yea thats great, but i think what matt was looking for was something that would just delay the time, like if he is at work, and cant press the reset button...
